Cyprus is a Country which uses a great proportion of four wheel drive vehicles, no doubt due to the type of roads (many are earth roads) and the kind of work they have to do.
Many British expatriates also have four wheel drive vehicles which enable them to explore the island of Cyprus better than if they have ordinary cars, and therefore the idea of an "Off Road" four wheel drive group was born.
Since its inauguration in March 2002, it has become very popular, and, after an initial training programme, it has now settled down with a regular monthly programme.
After initial runs led by the organiser the programmed runs are now led by members in turn, thus enabling the group to be active all year round. All types of four wheel drive vehicles are welcomed, but events during the rainy / wet period may be restricted to those vehicles with a low ratio gear box.
Membership is open to all UKCA (Paphos) Limited members upon payment of a fee of €10.00 per year per vehicle to cover any necessary overheads and administration costs.
Essential equipment recommended for each vehicle would be :-
1. Tow rope / strap with shackles
2. Fire Extinguisher
3. Spare Fan belt
